Canion of Colca MapAfter four hours of travel from Arequipa, and after crossing "Pampas" desolates, in which there are just alpacas and vicunas and after having passed through mountain pass to more than 4000 meters high, we will reach the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the world: with its 3400 meters depth, it appears as a majestic design of nature.
Uncontested kingdom of condor, it gives strong emotions to the visitors.
The man was here since the mists of time and the site still stores petroglyphs of prehistoric origin, as there are vestiges belonging to the people of Collagua, the ancient inhabitants of the canyon.
At the two sides and along the river there are fourteen villages founded in the sixteenth century.
In these little villages it seems that the time has stopped and you can see this thing in the provision of homes, in beautiful and features colonial churches and traditional festivals, in caskets of ancient and mysterious rites.
The main economic resources of the area are the agriculture and the craft that expresses all the richness and simplicity of the people of the valley.
Textile works are remarkable! Especially they do very beautiful carpets designs and women's clothes very colored drawings.
Of great impact are also the works of carving on wood, in which are represented the characteristics religious figures of Catholic religion.
And above all there is the powerful and majestic king of the Andes, the condor.
You can appreciate him to the "mirador" about 40 km from Chivay where its flight conquest animals and silence while the royal bird planing with the disturbing background of volcanoes Coropuna and Ampato.



FIRST DAY


Canion of ColcaWe leave from your hotel at 8:30 a.m. in the direction of carrettera nord, along the Chachani Volcano, and we will arrive at Pampa Cañahuas, which is the national reserve of Vigognes, where we will admire The nevado Chucura.
Las Lagunillas do Toqra y Patapampa and mirador of the Andes, where you can watch the nevado Ampato, Hualca Hualca and powerful Cordillera of the Andes.
We will arrive in Chivay or Yanque at about lunchtime.
Accommodation in the chosen hotel and free afternoon for walks discovering the place (or, if you want, for using the baths present in the area).
Overnight in the chosen hotel.


SECOND DAY


Canion of ColcaGet up at 6:00 a.m., continental breakfast in the hotel and departure towards the mirador of Cruz del Condor to admire the spectacular flight of the condors, and where it will be possible, we will watch the depth of the Colca Canion.
We will make a stop for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes and during the round trip we will do a walk from the Cruz del Condor until Cruz del Cura (about one hour), we will visit the traditional pueblitos Pinchollo, Yanque and Maca riches in ancient traditions; we'll observe amphitheatres, ancient tombs, old churches and agricultural terracing then we'll go back to Chivay where we can have lunch and continue the journey towards Puno or return to Arequipa according to the program chosen.
